PURPOSE: To provide a simple and inexpensive print head drive circuit which can transfer many kinds of data of different bits to latches efficiently with no independent special shift registers provided and with no special processing of data required. CONSTITUTION: A shift register 14 is divided internally into an m-bit shift register 14a and an n-bit shift register 14b, and a switch can be made from an independent-use mode in which only the m-bit shift register 14a is used to a combination-use mode in which the m-bit shift register 14a and the n-bit shift register 14b are used in combination and vice versa by a selector circuit. |
