PURPOSE: To obtain the subject ink, containing an oil-soluble dye and a polymer having a specific recurring unit without scorching and sticking to a printer head and capable of realizing prints having high water resistance and high line marker properties. CONSTITUTION: This water-based ink for ink jet recording contains (A) an oil-soluble dye and (B) a polymer comprising a recurring unit of the formula [X is an alkali metallic ion, ammonium ion or a (substituted)alkylamine; Y is a (substituted)alkyl, a (substituted)alkoxy, a (substituted)aryl(oxy), carboxyl, an acyl, hydroxyl, amino, nitro, sulfonyl, sulfinyl or a halogen; (m) is 0-5] [e.g. an alternating (styrene-maleic acid) copolymer]. Furthermore, the polymer is preferably capable of initiating the thermal decomposing reaction at 150-500 deg.C and has preferably 1000-10000 molecular weight in the component (B). For example, the amounts of the components based on the total weight of the ink are preferably 0.7-7wt.% component (A), 0.5-10wt.% component (B), 70-90wt.% water and 0.1-15wt.% other components. |
