<p>Disclosed is a battery connecting device and a method for switching batteries that extends the period of period a computer system that is powered by a battery can be operated. The battery connecting device has a plurality of series circuits 26, 28 that are connected to respective battery packs 30, 34 in order to supply power to a computer body. Each of the series circuits is so arranged that the drains of paired field-effect transistors, each of which incorporates a diode that has an anode connected to a source and a cathode connected to a drain, are connected together. To supply power from one of the battery pack 30, FET 11 = FET 12 = on and FET 21 = FET 22 = off, and power is supplied without passing through diodes D11 and D12. Then, the states of the FETs are changed by setting FET 11 = off, FET 22 = on, FET 12 = off, and FET 21 = on, in the named order, so that power is supplied from the other battery pack 34. <MATH></p> |
