<p>The liner is situated between the outer skin (1) of the door and its inside trim (2), and consists of an inner panel (3a) which forms a seal, and a second wall (3b) which forms one or more cavities (4,5) for supplementary functions. The liner is separate from the inside trim, and its two walls (3a,3b) are fixed together. The two walls of the liner are made from a thermoplastic polymer of the same or different thicknesses, joined together by welding or adhesive and fixed inside the door panel by a bead of pressure-sensitive adhesive. An additional cavity (6) formed between the walls can be filled with an energy-absorbing material to give protection against side impacts. <IMAGE></p> |
