In the feeding solid lignocellulose materials (such as wood chips, saw dust, planing chips, straw, and remains of other annual vegetation) into a high pressure reactor (autoclave) as used in the paper, pulp, wood products and chemical process industries for e.g. the hydrolysis of biomass, saturated steam (2) is removed from the solids-free part (2) of the reactor (1), compressed in a compressor (7), and used to feed the material in a chamber in a revolving magazine (11) into the reactor without significant compression.
