PURPOSE:To enable a large quantity of ink to be held by enhancing the volume capacity of an ink cartridge and to enable the amount of ink left in an ink container to be reduced to a minimum. CONSTITUTION:This ink cartridge comprises an ink container 2 in the form of a rectangular solid which comprises a top plate 4 having a vent hole 5, four side plates 6, a bottom plate 8 whose surface near a filler hole 7 is one step lower, and a connection that can be separated from an ink head, with thin-plate-shaped ribs 13 provided at least some part of the side plates 6; and an ink holder 3 made of a fibrous material which is inserted into the ink container 2 while being compressed by the ribs 13 and the top plate 4. Since the capillary force is adjusted by means of a relatively simple internal structure depending on the density of the fiber block of the ink holder 3, the volume capacity for filling ink is high, the effect of collecting ink at the filler hole is excellent, and the ink left in the ink holder 3 can be used with high efficiency. |
