Dyeing cellulosic substrate with reactive dye using levelling agent

Dyeing of cellulosic substrates with reactive dyes (I) in aq. dyebaths (II) contg. NaCl is carried out in the presence of an auxiliary (III) and at a NaCl content of at least 20 g/l. (III) comprises aromatic prod(s). contg. a methylene bridge and SO3 gps., obtd. by (a) sulphonation of 9-18C aromatic hydrocarbon(s) (IV) and opt. alkyl-substd. diphenyl (thio)ether(s) (V) to introduce an average of at least 1.1 SO3H/mol. (IV) and (V), then (b) condensation with HCHO (source) in acid medium and opt. (c) conversion to salt. Also claimed are a dyeing auxiliary compsn. (VI) for dyeing with (I) and certain (III) per se.
