PURPOSE:To transmit a mail not only to a user, but also to a file and to receive a mail when a transmitted file is referred to regarding mail transmission and reception on a computer. CONSTITUTION:This electronic mail device consists of an input device 102 for inputting data, an input control means 105 which controls the input device 102, a display device 103 which displays figures and characters, a display control means 106 which controls the display device 103, an auxiliary storage device 123 which stores data, a network state acquiring means 108 which detects both the state of connection with the auxiliary storage device 123 and the state of a user, a file management means 109 which manages the information of a user's file, a file mail management means 107 which manages a file mail, a file mail transmitting means 110 which transmits the file mail, and a file mail receiving means 111 which receives the file mail.
