Image coding sub-system with refresh correction for use with video telephone

The image coding sub-assembly is provided for coding images in which parts of the image are mobile, whilst the basic image is quasi-fixed. It develops a three-dimensional base model (200) representing the areas of the image which change, and includes a coding device (400) with an associated decoding device.A segmentation circuit (100) includes an initial calibration and matching system, with a circuit for extracting the areas of interest and determining their movement. Changes in luminance and chrominance within the areas of interest are detected and encoded (400).
