11 53,172 A system for rendering environmental waste benign when the waste includes uncharacterized mixtures of toxic organic and inorganic chemicals, solids, liquids, and other materials including sand or soil fillers utilizing a pot of molten waste heated by passing electric current therethrough and a dome disposed above the pot with inlet and discharge nozzles for respectively admitting waste and withdrawing the gases produced therein which are filtered and scrubbed and returned to the dome to provide a reducing atmosphere and a plurality of very high temperature electric heating elements to raise the temperature of the influent waste rapidly to approximately 3000.degree.F.
