A support structure is described for the installation of a shadow mask on a colour display tube, comprising surfaces Y1 to Y4 and Y5 to Y8 formed on the four corner parts of a screen 10 and a frame 20, raised pins 30a to 30d installed on the surfaces Y1 to Y4 and Y5 to Y8 along the extended parts of diagonal lines of the screen and spring mechanisms 40a to 40d fixed on the raised pins 30a to 30d and installed between the surfaces Y1 to Y8. According to the present invention, the installation of the raised pins 30a to 30d and the spring mechanisms 40a to 40d is simplified, and the shadow mask can be accurately installed in the correct position. Furthermore, the support length of the spring mechanisms 40a to 40d is minimised, which prevents the shadow mask 50 from being oscillated, thereby enabling an improvement in image quality to be achieved. <IMAGE>
