Appts. is described for withdrawing waffle-like bakers wares from a forming tool. The device comprises an extractor grid formed from wedge shaped bars whose free ends taper to a cutting edge. A power unit pushes the grid bars into the side of an open forming tool contg. the waffles and the cutting edges run along grooves between raised areas of the tool. Waffles are thus loosened and lifted from the tool base. Following retraction of the grid bars they are lowered again below the level of a series of bars forming a transfer grid. Waffles are therefore located on the transfer grid. USE/ADVANTAGE - The relatively inexpensive appts. is used to lift deep-profiled waffle-like bakers wares from a tool and transfer them to a conveyor without damage.
