Mechanical connector for a polyethylene tube of the type including an internal hoop 2 externally provided with anchoring striations 4 so as to be mounted forcibly inside the end of the tube 1 and also fitted with a base part (flange) 3, this connector furthermore including a counter bore 5 formed in a connector body 6 extended by a connection end-fitting 7, this counter bore being intended to receive the end of the tube and the base part (flange) 3, before being closed up by a clamping nut 8 surrounding the tube, with insertion between the tube 1 and the counter bore 5, as well as between the base part 3 and the end of the clamping nut 8, of an elastomeric compression ring 11 with interposition of clamping washers 12, characterised in that the said anchoring striations consist of a progressive screw thread 4, 14 combined with a means for rotationally driving the hoop. <IMAGE>
