PURPOSE:To enable a control over a wide speed range by providing a differentially operating, separately excited winding in addition to a series winding and by applying a difference voltage between a main generator voltage and an added voltage. CONSTITUTION:When the output of a main rectifier 8 for rectifying the output of a main generator 1 is Vg; the resistance of a separately excited winding 15, Rs; and an auxiliary rectifier voltage, Eo; a current Is flowing through said separately excited winding 15 is expressed by Is=(Vg-Eo)/Rs. Eo is selected to be positioned almost in the middle of the whole working range of Vg. At the time of starting an electric car, Is is negative because Vg is small, and the magnetomotive force of the separately excited winding 15 works additionally on a series winding 10 so that torque increases. At the time of high-speed travel ing, Is is positive, the magnetomotive force of said winding 15 works differential ly on the series winding 10, and the state of an apparatus is equivalently the same as that at the time of insertion of a field-weakening resistance. |
