PURPOSE:To form the cadmium electrode stated in the title as one with high performance, high capacity and high productivity at reduced cost by using as a current collector a hollow, mesh alkali resistant metallic body which has a space therein, and filling the space with an active material composed mainly of cadmium oxide. CONSTITUTION:Cadmium oxide powder as active material and carbon powder as conductive additive are mixed together and are applied and dried on a hollow, mesh alkali resistant metallic current collector which has a space therein, and then the mixed powders are pressed. A cadmium electrode for an alkali storage battery is thus obtained which has removed a hollow hole inside its current collector and which provides high performance, high capacity and high productivity at low cost. |
