POLYPROPYLENE RESIN COMPOSITION

A polypropylene resin compsn. contains 0.05-1 wt.% metal salt of a fatty acid and 0.01-1 wt.% of the oxide or hydroxide of an alkaline earth metal, based on polypropylene. The nylon or ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer is coextruded with the polypropylene resin compsn, which cna contain scrap of the coextruded material. The salt is Mg, Ca, Zn or Al. aleote, sterate or palmitate. The ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer contains 10-80 mole% ethylene and is at least 90 mole% saponified. The compsn. is used in multi-layer packaging and containers with a nylon or ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer gas barrier layer. The compsn. has good thermal stability even when remelted and extruded after mixing of recycled scrap.
