The machining of window or door sections is relatively complicated and necessitates special positioning operations and the arrangement of various machining stations one after the other. To machine sectional bars, it is proposed to arrange a milling device and a sawing device on a slide movable transversely to the feed direction and extending on both sides of the sectional bar. Due to this configuration, the cutting-off and milling operation can be carried out one after the other at a work station without re-setting. The novel apparatus is used for the manufacture of transom bars suitable for frames or casements of windows or doors. <IMAGE>
