PURPOSE:To facilitate read of a stamp on a curved surface by providing an illuminating device where the reflected light from a non-stamped curved surface of a stamped object is approximately converged on an objective lens of an image taking-in camera and angles of incidence and reflection on the curved surface are equalized. CONSTITUTION:The illuminating device is provided where a reflected light 4 from a non-stamped curved surface 3 of a stamped object 1 is approximately converged on an objective lens 6 of an image taking-in camera 5 and angles of incidence and reflection on the curved surface are equalized. Consequently, angles of incidence and reflection of a light 4' projected from the illuminating device 7 to the curved surface 3 of the stamped object 1 are equal to each other in accordance with the curvature of the curved surface 3, and the reflected light 4 from the non-stamped curved surface 3 is converged on the objective lens 6 of the image taking-in camera 5, and the image of the stamp is picked up by the camera 5. Thus, read of the stamp on the specular curved surface 3 is facilitated.
