Multi-cylinder head for a diesel type internal combustion engine having four gas exchange valves (2 to 5) for each cylinder, having a tubular body extending between the induction and exhaust valves (2, 3) and (4, 5), respectively, to receive a fuel line for the centrally located injection nozzle (9') and having two cooling water chambers (8, 12) which are separated by a tapering bulkhead (7), the cooling water running back from the cooling water chambers (8, 12) of each pair of adjacent cylinder heads around one of the cylinder head studs (16) and into a passage (15, 18) which extends vertically outside the surface of the cylinder head bottom (6) in the area bordering the two cylinder heads. <IMAGE>
