<p>The arm rest is mounted to an interior panel, e.g. a door panel. The arm rest comprises a support piece attached to a rod whose ends are attached to a plate on one of the panels. The arm rest is hingeable about and slidable along the rod and when in use, firmly contacts the panel keeping it in its horizontal position. When in the out of use position, it is free to slide on the rod, and the base of the support piece remains roughly parallel to the plate. The plate and support piece are made of rigid plastically-deformable material. The top surface of the support piece has an edge which coincides with a groove in the upturned position with a rib on the plate.</p> |
