Adjustable vehicle steering column

Steering column pivot movement e.g. in a commercial vehicle is achieved by mounting under the floor, a bearing bracket (4) which supports a pivot mechanism (3). The pivot mechanism is fitted at the end of the steering column. A lockable air spring cylinder (6) is attached at one end to pin (8) in the pivot, and at the other end in a bearing (9) of a bracket (4). When a button (15) is pressed, the pivot action of a lever (14) causes the air spring cylinder to unlock, giving the driver freedom to move the column.
