PURPOSE:To simplify a camera operation and to reduce the manufacturing cost of a camera, by installing a white balance adjustment means to change an electric field gradient to at least one piece among the plural pickup tubes. CONSTITUTION:In compliance with the color temperature change during the use of a camera, by making the output signal of any one of pickup tubes of each color channel pickup tube in charge at every wavelength area such as red, green and blue as a reference, the electric field gradient of a photoconductive film is changed so that the output ratio of other pickup tube becomes constant. In case a color television camera performed with the white balance adjustment at the required illuminating light color temperature is used under the higher color temperature illumination at the time of adjustment, when the impressed voltage to the photoconductive film is made large, an increase rate is lowered in the order of a red light band sensitivity 1. Thus, the output of a red channel is relatively lowered by rising the color temperature, and the output of a blue channel compensates relatively the rise.
