In a machine for enclosing articles, such as bottles, in cardboard boxes, the first folding of the blank does not take place at the station at which the bottles are pushed forward, but rather before the blank reaches the said station. In addition, a frame with upwardly projecting fingers is movable to the side, downwards, back again and back upwards underneath the working table which also contains this station by means of a chain, in such a way that the fingers further process or displace the only partially finished to finished cardboard boxes synchronously in each case.
