Device for protecting conveying troughs, conveyor belts (4) or the like for discharging the conveyed material out of a bunker against running with no load, the conveying trough (4) being mounted on spring elements with a defined force of pressure and these spring elements being relieved by a stationary proximity switch (1). In order to ensure that the protective device responds in a predetermined and reliable manner even when loads and operating conditions vary, provision is made for the proximity switch (1) and the corresponding switching element (2) to be combined in a structural unit in such a way that the switching element (2) is able to execute only a linear movement parallel to the end face (3) of the proximity switch (1) and for the arrangement in the conveying trough (4) for transmitting power and movement to the switching element (2) to have lateral degrees of freedom (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
