The device for scarfing the blades of a fan wheel is provided with a hydraulic drive for the torch cross feed and a further hydraulic drive for the rotation of the fan wheel. Both hydraulic cylinders are provided with independent hydraulic units and are independently controlled by a control device accommodated in a control box. The control box is connected to the piston rod of the hydraulic cylinder for the torch-holder feed with the supporting tip. This arrangement ensures continuous regulation of the applied pressure on the supporting tip in accordance with the diameter of the fan wheel and in accordance with the extent of the technological oversize. Furthermore, simple reversal of both the fan wheel and the holder is possible. The quality of the scarfed blades corresponds to the required tolerance and finish when working by a machining process.
