PURPOSE:To enable exact and quick response even if the blood sampled from an infant patient or the like is small and to measure the concn. of the electrolyte in the serum by increasing the very slight amt. of serum to the amt. necessary for measurement by a reference liquid for calibration and measuring the concn. by an ion electrode method. CONSTITUTION:A slight amt. of serum is increased to the amt. necessary for measurement by using a reference liquid for calibration contg. Na<+>, K<+> and Cl<-> in the concn. approximate to those in a healthy adult's serum in the stage of measuring the concn. of the electrolyte (Na<+>, K<+>, Cl<->, etc.) in the serum by an ion electrode method. The concns. of respective ions are obtd. by the calculations expressed by the equations I -III if the concn. of ion in the reference liquid for calibration is designated as Na<+> concn.=A0mEq/l, K<+> concn.=B0mEq/l, Cl<-> concn.=C0mEq/l, the concn. of ion of the mixed liquid as Na<+> concn.= Ameq/l, K<+> concn.=BmEq/l, Cl<-> concn. CmEq/l, and the mixing magnification as n. The exact measurement is thus made possible without delay in response speed and with good linearity. |
