PURPOSE:To decrease the difference in the sizes between the upper side and the lower side of a work in the case where the cutting operation is applied to a work not in one stroke only but in two or more strokes, by adapting the traveling direction of the wire electrode to be reversed for the second and further strokes. CONSTITUTION:In the case where a primary machining stroke has been applied to a work 5 and the secondary machining stroke is to be applied with the machining conditions changed, the traveling direction of the wire electrode 1 is reversed by engaging the same on a reversing reel 14 thereby changing the traveling path of the wire. Since the wire diameters D and d in the secondary and further machining are virtually the same, the slant surface 18 which has been produced by the changing diameters of the wire at the primary machining stroke is removed at the secondary machining stroke, and thus highly accurate machining which accompanies virtually no difference in the sizes between the upper side and the lower side of the work can be provided. |
