The constitution of absorbent screens forming a wall flanking the vertical partition plate of the water boxes of steam generators SG and a false ceiling against the horizontal tube plate. These screens consist of adjoined components 910 arranged with aid of a remote-control manipulator 966 whose steering is controlled using optical fibre endoscopes V1 and V2. Fastenings and rails are attached to the tube plate before the operation. The vertical components rest on the bottom of the bowl of the SG and are held in position by fastenings; the "tiles" 910 of the false ceiling are supported by the rails. By reducing the radiation intensity to a minimum, these screens permit manual interventions of reasonable duration. <IMAGE>
