PURPOSE:To speed up decoding processing and to simplify operation control by controlling a conversion part which converts a run-length value into a fixed- length binary code and a conversion part which converts the output of a buffer memory into data equal to said value in parallel. CONSTITUTION:An unfixed-length code word (a) inputted from a transmission line is converted by the fixed-length conversion part 12 and the code conversion part 13 into a binary code (c) indicating a run-length (RL) value successively. The binary code (c) outputted on bit-parallel basis is inputted to the parallel code buffer 21. An RL reverse counting part 14 reads binary code c' out of the parallel code buffer 21 successively to count the RL value reversely and restores the outputs a data string (d). The parts on both sides of the parallel code buffer 21 are controlled to operate in parallel independently of each other. |
