Cooling chimney power generator - has air turbines at base of natural draught cooling tower to use natural convection
摘要

The cooling tower (1) is constructed to produce a rising current of air through it by natural convection. It has air inlets at its base arranged as a ring of separate entry tunnels. An air turbine (2) driving an electrical generator is mounted in each entry tunnel. The air flow is thus used to generate power. The turbines are in dry air and the entry tunnels can be shaped to give a high velocity and flow over each turbine. A further turbine (3) is mounted at the top of the tower to recover the energy of the air leaving the tower.
