PURPOSE:To enable uniform printing by making a platen move synchronously with the move of a thermal head and thereby making the contact pressure between them constant. CONSTITUTION:The platen 1 is provided rotatably around a shaft 1A supported by two upper and lower supporting plates 2. A roller-supporting plate 4 fixed to the supporting plate 2 is capable of moving slidably along a guide rail 32, while the platen 1 is pulled horizontally by a belt 31 fixed to the supporting plate 2. That is, during the printing process wherein the belt 31 pulled to the right and the thermal head 35 is moved as a fitting block 6 moves, the platen 1 is moved in the same direction at the same speed and the printing is performed on recording paper 34, and after that, both return to the initial positions thereof simultaneously. During the returning process, the thermal head 35 is turned round a guide shaft 28 and separated from the recording paper 34. |
