Differences in temp. and humidity between the inside and outside of a building causes doors and windows to warp so that, when the centre is closed, the top and bottom do not touch the fixed frame. The compensator bar (3) is housed in groove (12) in the door by screws (9) and is tensioned by stops (23) housed in circular sockets (22). The square head of the stop (23b) is offset from its circular body (23a) so that the distance between the two stops and the pressure on the compensating rod can be varied by turning the stops about their axis.
