ANTIIPOISONING CATALYZATION OXYGEN SENSOR

PURPOSE:To enhance the catalyst function by forming the layer which prevent the poisoning of the phosphorus around the catalyst layer provided on the outer surface of the sensor element as well as on the surface of the louver and thus avoiding the direct contact between the catalyst and the exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION:The solid state electrolyte of zirconia or the like is formed to tubular conatiner 1 with one end closed. Then the inside of container 1 is used for the standard oxygen partial pressure division side; while the outside of container 1 is used as the measured side each to be made to touch the exhaust gas. Then the oxygen sensor element containing inside and outside electrodes 2 and 3 formed on the inner and outer surfaces of container 1 is fixed into housing 4 made of the metal which is hard to be oxidized and deformed even at a high temperature. Container 1 is coated around with outer and inner louvers 16' and 16 since it is fragile.
