The collar (4) holds the bristles (2) of a brush in position and has one tubular part (9) at the interior of the ferrule (3) and a second tubular part (10) which holds the bristles above the ferrule. The first part is shaped to be complementary to the inside of the ferrule to hold them together in place. The first part has at least one annular groove at the top (11) which engages with a complementary interior rib (12) in the ferrule. The length of the first part is equal to the length of the bristles held in the ferrule.
