An arrangement for school desks, work desks or the like in which the desk has a backrest (3) fixed to a common desk frame (6, 11, 13, 14), a seat (5) slidably arranged to said desk frame along an inclined guide means (9) fixed on one side of said desk frame and provided with first engagement means (19, 10) arranged on one side of said desk enabling the height and depth of said seat (5) to be adjusted in steps, a table-top (1) slidably engaging said desk frame in a substantially horizontal plane, and a footboard (15) having its height adjustable in steps by second engagement means (17, 18) arranged on one side of said desk and being slidably linked to said desk frame. Said first engagement means is suitably a tab (19) or the like fixed to the frame (7) of the seat (5) and releasably engaging notches, indentations, slots or the like along a tube, rod or the like (10) fixed to the desk frame. Said second engagement means are preferably hook means (18) intended releasably to engage notches, slots, apertures or the like (17) on vertical parts of the desk frame (13, 14). Means (22, 21) provided to encode the positions of said seat (5) and said footboard (15) relative to the table-top (1) in accordance with physical proportions of the desk occupant.
