A portable measuring instrument which measures the warp length knitted as against the number of revolutions of the main shaft on a warp knitter or Raschel loom. The instrument has 3 impulses counters, one counts the revolutions, one the length of warp used, and the other the fabric knitted. The main shaft has an impulse giver which can be taken out off drive. The electrical connections of the instrument to the machine are by a jack plug. Impulses are also given from the fabric take off roller and from the warp.
