1,168,010. Discharge tubes. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 6 Dec., 1967 [12 Jan., 1967], No. 55531/67. Heading H1D. An anode 2 is supported from the dome portion 8 of envelope 1, e.g. of a rectifier, by an anode lead or end cap 9 having a closed outer end 11 and, extending from the other, open end, a number of spaced projections 14 which terminate in point contacts to which the anode is secured by means of percussive welds 15. As shown, the open inner end of lead 9 may have a scalloped edge and three projections spaced 120 degrees apart. Immediately adjacent where the tubular lead 9 is sealed through the envelope dome a groove 12 in the lead may be provided to protect the seal from external stresses. The anode 3 may be an inverted cup with the cathode 3 housed within it, and the arrangement provides a minimum thermal conduction path between the anode and the lead. |
