PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composite material, by integrating a resin composition prepared by blending a polyphenylene sulfide resin with a specific olefin based copolymer with specific reinforcing fibers and having particularly improved mechanical strength as well as impact resistance. CONSTITUTION:A composite material, obtained by integrating (A) a preferably linear resin composition, consisting of a polyphenylene sulfide resin, containing >=70mol%, preferably >=90mol% repeating units expressed by the formula and having a high molecular weight and (B) a copolymer consisting essentially of 60-99.5wt% alpha-olefin, preferably ethylene and 0.5-40wt% glycidyl ester of an alpha,beta-unsaturated acid, preferably glycidyl methacrylate and containing the component (B) in an amount of preferably 30-3wt% based on 70-97wt% component (A) with (C) reinforcing fibers, preferably carbon fibers having >=3mm, preferably >=5mm fiber length and having preferably 5-70% volume fraction of the component (C) in the composite material. |
