This pressing device is provided with: an actuator; a pressing unit that is provided to a movable element of the actuator; a moving quantity detection means, which detects the moving quantity of the movable element, and outputs moving quantity information indicating the moving quantity; and a drive device, which moves the pressing unit by supplying a drive current to the actuator on the basis of the moving quantity information, and presses the pressing unit to a subject to be pressed. The drive device controls the operations of the pressing unit using a position control based on the moving quantity information and current information indicating the drive current. When the speed of the pressing unit is reduced to a predetermined lower limit speed, the drive device controls the speed of the pressing unit to be constant on the basis of the current information, and determines that the pressing operations are performed when the current reaches a predetermined current value. |
