A safety device in a linear unit

The present invention relates to a safety device intended to be employed in a linear unit. The linear unit is of the type which consists of one or more linear modules (1) and which can displace a device vertically or horizontally. The linear unit is driven by an electric motor. The device includes an end plate (2) placed on a linear module (1). The device further includes at least one, and preferably two carriages (4) which are secured on that device which the linear unit displaces. The carriages (4) each run on a guide rail (6) secured on the linear module. The device also includes an indicator (8) which, in normal operation, senses the end plate (2) and which emits a signal to the electric motor to stop when it no longer senses the end plate (2).
