<p>Partially condensed phenol-formaldehyde resin contains groups II metal salt of hydroxy-aromatic monocarboxylic acid or phenyl-aliphatic acid as built-in condensation catalyst. Resin can be prepared rapidly in one stage is essentially anhyd. process, requiring no neutralisation and/or washing stages. For setting adhesives and reducing their thermoplasticity, esp. for pressure-sensitive adhesive tape. Suitable salts are those of Zn, Cd, Ca or Mg with o- or m-hydroxy-aromatic acids or aliphatic acids with terminal phenyl substituent and 4C in aliphatic chain. Is not 0.5 wt. % metal is used, referred to resin, in which F/P molar ratio is is not 1.05:1. Thermosetting elastomer mixture can be prepared from 100 pts. elastomer and 5-75 pts. oil-soluble thermosetting aldehyde resin and opt. 25-500 pts. compatible adhesion promoter.</p> |
