PURPOSE: To eliminate V fluctuations generated at the time of reproduction by reproducing one or more fields of the same recording track by first and second heads and varying the addition timing of pseudo vertical synchronizing signals to the switching signals of the first head corresponding to the switching signals of the second head. CONSTITUTION: When the reproduction is performed by the head 3b, the second head switching signals 26 of H are inputted to a switch 14 and the pseudo vertical synchronizing signals 30 among the two signals inputted to the switch 14 are selected and outputted to an insertion circuit 11 as output 29. In the circuit 11, the output 29 is added to video signals 27 and outputted as the video signals 32. Then, when the video signals are reproduced by the head 2b, the signals 30 delayed for 420μs in the circuit 13 are inputted to the switch 14 and a variable delay circuit 12. Delayed pseudo vertical signals 31 among the two signals inputted to the switch 14 are selected, the delayed signals are outputted to the circuit 11 and the signals 32 for which the output 29 is added to the signals 27 are outputted. In such a manner, the timing of imparting the pseudo synchronizing signals to reproducing signals is changed corresponding to head switching signals and the V fluctuations generated at the time of the reproduction is eliminated.
