PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a gasket, capable of suppressing a molding failure by preventing the occurrence of burrs.SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing a gasket includes the steps of (S1) preparing a metal mesh material and an expanded graphite, (S2) arranging the metal mesh material around the expanded graphite to form a long composite such that the expanded graphite is encircled by the metal mesh material, (S4) adjusting the shape of the longitudinal end of the composite to make the width size of the longitudinal end of the composite smaller than the width size of the longitudinal middle of the composite with respect to the lateral direction of the composite, (S5) spirally winding the composite to form a cylindrical body in the state of being multiply wound with the lateral direction of the composite as an axial direction, and (S6) compressing and molding the cylindrical body in the axial direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
