[Problem] To provide a protective layer-equipped glass substrate manufacturing method by which a protective layer which can effectively prevent brittle fracture can be easily formed, and to provide a protective layer-equipped glass substrate. [Solution] This manufacturing method includes a machining protective layer forming step, a dividing step, an end-face protective agent supply step, and a machining protective layer removal step. In the machining protective layer forming step, an anti-etching layer (22) on which a machining pattern is formed is formed on each of a first main surface and a second main surface of a mother glass substrate (20). In the dividing step, the mother glass substrate (20) is divided into a plurality of glass substrates (10), with the anti-etching layers (22) being caused to remain so as to extend out from the end faces of each glass substrate (10). In the end-face protective agent supply step, an end-face protective agent is supplied between the anti-etching layers (22) and the end faces of the glass substrate (10). In the machining protective layer removal step, after filling of the end-face protective agent, the anti-etching layers (22) are removed from the glass substrate (10). |
