PURPOSE: A display device is provided to efficiently couple light emitted from a top view type LED light source. CONSTITUTION: A light emitting chip is mounted on a sub mount substrate(221). A resin layer(223) surrounds the light emitting chip on the sub mount substrate. A light transmittance adjusting layer(224) is placed on an upper surface of the resin layer. The light transmittance adjusting layer adjusts the amount of transmitted light. The light emitting chip includes an LED chip(222) which emits color light or white light.
