<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retainer for a ball bearing capable of holding a lubricant in the ball bearing by preventing a situation where the lubricant adhered to the balls of the ball bearing are scraped off by the retainer and discharged to the outside, and also provide the ball bearing. <P>SOLUTION: In an annlar retainer 1 for a ball bearing in which a plurality of pockets 3 for rollingly holding a plurality of balls 2 are formed in the circumferential direction, the pocket 3 includes a pocket inner spherical surface 3a which is a part of a spherical surface having a radius of curvature larger than the radius of curvature of the ball and a projecting part 6 projecting in the direction apart from the pocket inner spherical surface 3a. The projecting part 6 includes a circumferential part 6a extending in the circumferential direction U and a radial part 6b which crosses the circumferential part 6a and extends in the radial direction V.
