PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically detect a document whose base is black and a thick document size without changing a structure in terms of hardware.SOLUTION: When a document size is detected by a line sensor, a first position in a state where a platen cover is opened and a second position in a state where the cover is in the middle of closing are detected. A detection result of a first stage in the line sensor when the platen cover is in the first position is compared with a detection result of a second stage in the line sensor when the cover is in the second position. When the results of the first and second stages are inverted, the detection result of the first stage is set to be a size detection result. When they are not inverted, a combination of the results of the first and second stages is set to be the size detection result. Even if the document is thick, the document size can automatically be detected. |
