The present invention relates to an electric heater, more particularly to an electric heater using a heater coil and capable of preventing a fire accident by insulating the heater coil from the outside using convective heat as well as radiant heat of the heater coil in case of an emergency. The electric heater using a heater coil according to the present invention comprises a coil support drum which has the heater coil mounted on the peripheral surface thereof to support the heater coil; a heat radiation drum which is fastened to the rear end of the coil support drum; an upper head which is arranged in the rear end of the heat radiation drum and has an external air inlet formed on the rear surface thereof to draw in external air; and an insulation drum which has a cylindrical shape with the front and rear sides open, is contained inside the upper head and is mounted to be moved to the front of the upper head; a heat radiation plate which is connected to the heat radiation drum, is mounted in the state of being contained inside the insulation drum from the upper head, and heats the external air drawn in from the external air inlet to be converted into warm air; a blower fan which draws in the external air and emits the warm air to the front so that the air heated through the heater coil is blown to the outside; an electric motor which is fastened with the blower fan to provide torque; an elastic spring which moves the insulation drum to the front to surround the heat radiation drum and the coil support drum; and a safety switch which initiates the movement of the elastic spring in case where the upper head is inclined or falls in one direction. |
