PURPOSE: A composition containing Umbilicaria esculenta extract is provided to prevent and treat oral inflammation and diseases. CONSTITUTION: A composition for enhancing oral immunity contains 0.0001-10 wt% of Umbilicaria esculenta extract as an active ingredient. The extract is a hot water extract of Umbilicaria esculenta. The extract is prepared by hot water extraction of Umbilicaria esculenta, placing at 2-5°C for 12-48 hours to isolate remaining liquid and precipitate, and precipitating polysaccharides using anhydrous or hydrous alcohol of 1-4 carbon atoms. The composition is manufactured in the form of a toothpaste, jelly, caramel, candy, oral cleaner, or gum. |
