The device has a tool element (1) i.e. mold die, with a die cavity (2) for formation of a three-dimensional structure element (3) in an area of a semi-finished product i.e. circular metal sheet. An edge surface (5) relative to an edge region of a component is attached to the die cavity of the mold die. A circumferential bead and/or a circumferential clearance angle are located between the die cavity and the edge region. Another tool element i.e. electromagnetic actuator, is arranged opposite to the former tool element for molding material of the metal sheet into the cavity by an energy input. The three-dimensional structure element is in the form of a flat recess.
